Welcome to “Living Proof” Youth Ministry!
The number one goal of VEFC’s “Living Proof” is to produce spiritually maturing young men and women (by God’s power) conforming more and more to the image of Christ, who are equipped to both feed themselves (with the Word) and replicate themselves (making disciples) to the glory of God. Visitors (whether Christian or not) are always welcome, and our number two goal is to provide a fun and relaxed atmosphere that teens won’t want to leave!
With the majority of youth (even Christians) lacking a real Biblical foundation in their lives, it is important that one should be built! That is what “Living Proof” is all about. It will teach the students to feed themselves from the Word of God, which is solely relied upon as the source of truth. Each student needs to grow in his/her own walk, so that they will be equipped to share their faith and continue to grow.
That being said, the goal of “Living Proof” is to produce spiritually maturing adolescents (by God’s power) conforming more and more to the image of Christ, who are equipped to both feed themselves (with the Word) and replicate themselves (making disciples) to the glory of God. Four specific Biblical principles can be derived from this goal statement. First, the youth pastor has the responsibility of being both a model and an equipper (Eph. 4:11-13; Col. 1:28-29, 3:16). Second, there should be evidence of the process of progressive sanctification in each student, through the power of God and the cooperation of the student (II Cor. 3:18; Gal. 3:3; Phil. 2:12; Col. 3:9-10). Next, the student should show evidence of having a real relationship with God, by practicing the spiritual disciplines- especially prayer and Bible study (I Cor. 9:24-27; I Tim. 4:8; Heb. 5:11-14). Finally, the student should in some way become involved in the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:44-49; John 17:20-23, 20:21).
