VEFC Worship Team Requirements for Prospective Members

1. The Purpose of a Worship Team

A Worship Team is a group of believers that the Lord uses to lead and encourage a congregation to worship Him and celebrate all He’s done for us  in Christ. Primarily this is through music when the church is gathered  together (Eph. 5:19, Col. 3:16 ). Jesus told us in John 4:23 that the Father is seeking worshipers who worship Him in Spirit and truth. The Psalms tell us that God inhabits or is enthroned upon the praises of His people (Ps.22:3). As we lead in worship we are ” teaching and admonishing one another” as well as “singing to the Lord” . (Col.3:16)  It is, therefore, an important ministry and one that can have a great impact on people in their relationship with God.

2. Prerequisites to be part of the Worship Team at VEFC

A. More than musical talent, a growing faith in the Lord , a desire to love Him with all the heart, soul, mind, and strength, and a love for others is what is most desired in a member of the Worship Team.

B. As this is a leadership role one must have attended VEFC regularly for six months and be a member. This gives you a chance to get to know us and us to know you.

C. One must have musical ability, and able (or at least willing ) to play or sing a wide variety of musical styles. This is subjective, so there must be an “ audition “ which may vary from person to person, depending on skill level, instrument/vocal, etc. Consultation with the worship pastor will determine this.

3. Requirements of a Worship Team member

A. Be one who is growing in a lifestyle of worship and is an example of this to others. ( Hebrews 13:15 -16 )

B. Be one who regularly attends  rehearsals.

C. Be one who exhibits a spirit of cooperation and teamwork, is teachable, and  willingly submits to leadership. (1 Peter 5:5b)

D. Read and be in agreement with the worship policy of the VEFC.
